At the futuristic, science-driven restaurant, ArtScience Culture Lab & Café, Bar Director Tenzin Samdo develops cocktails to blow the minds of his guests, from a piña colada cloud to a Tiki drink you can chew. With a lab’s worth of equipment at his disposal, Samdo oversees a compact, sustainable drink menu currently highlighting endangered species and organized by their preferred altitude, with higher altitudes yielding more spirit-forward drinks and flavors indicative of colder weather. A Tibetan refugee who grew up in northern India, Samdo came to Boston in 1996 and has since worked at a number of recognized bars, such as Trade and Tavern Road and continues to add elements of his culture to his drinks. His professional recognitions include Thrillist’s, Zagat’s, and Eater’s top Boston bartender awards; Nightclub & Bar’s June 2015 Bartender of the Month; reaching the final 10 at Punch King’s Competition at COCHON 555; Boston Magazine’s Bartender of the Year 2018; and more. He also participates in National Restaurant Association and Nightclubs & Bars events, and he developed Cocktail Artist brand’s Premium Lemon Juice mixer.
