Science and Impact Producer
Ru Mahoney is a Science and Impact Producer. She advocates evidence-based strategies for filmmakers tackling the world’s most important science, conservation, and social issues. Her work developing interdisciplinary collaborations has been supported by numerous non-traditional media funders, including the National Science Foundation, US Department of State, the EPA, and charitable foundations. Ru works with Jackson Hole Wild as Principal Investigator on their science communication strand of research and professional development. She recently completed work on-location for a feature documentary on wildlife trafficking and the decline of the vaquita for Terra Mater. She is currently finishing a one hour doc for BBC/PBS which brings together research, citizen science, and viral videos to explore the world of humpback whales. And she previously collaborated on the first-ever trade assessment of giraffe as part of the Emmy-nominated and Wild Screen Impact Award nominated Giraffes: Africa's Gentle Giants for BBC/PBS.
